Emmy Rossum Fights Back Against Anti-Semitic Trolls
Emmy Rossum is shining a light on anti-Semitic internet trolls.
The “Shameless” star tweeted out an image she was sent by a Twitter user, which read: “This is all your ilk’s future, you will be seeing a train shortly. Hollywood days of subjugation is over! SEIG HEIL!” The image appears to show train tracks leading up to a concentration camp, with the words Trump Tower stamped on the front of the structure.
No matter WHO you voted for, I don’t care, THIS is not okay. “You will be seeing a train shortly” pic.twitter.com/cvQP6Fegz4

In a string of tweets that followed, Rossum, a vocal supporter of Hillary Clinton, told the user to “back off.”
Telling anyone to “get ready for the trains” in reference to WWII is disgusting & offensive.Reporting you to twitter is not enough.Back off.

This doesn’t scare me. It doesn’t cause me nightmares. I find it sad to recognize that this kind of vicious underbelly was there all along.

Last week, Rossum took to Twitter to explain just how important this election was to her—and what was at stake with Donald Trump’s win.
“I am a woman. I am Jewish. I am marrying an Arab American. My sister in law is handicapped. I’m a victim of sexual violence.” she wrote. “It’s personal.”

I hope you appreciated this article. Before you go, I’d like to ask you to please support the Forward’s award-winning journalism this Passover.
In this age of misinformation, our work is needed like never before. We report on the news that matters most to American Jews, driven by truth, not ideology.
At a time when newsrooms are closing or cutting back, the Forward has removed its paywall. That means for the first time in our 126-year history, Forward journalism is free to everyone, everywhere. With an ongoing war, rising antisemitism, and a flood of disinformation that may affect the upcoming election, we believe that free and open access to Jewish journalism is imperative.
Readers like you make it all possible. Right now, we’re in the middle of our Passover Pledge Drive and we still need 300 people to step up and make a gift to sustain our trustworthy, independent journalism.
Make a gift of any size and become a Forward member today. You’ll support our mission to tell the American Jewish story fully and fairly.
