Julia Louis-Dreyfus Tapped By ‘Top Democrats’ To Run For Office

“Veep” star Julia Louis-Dreyfus may play a lawmaker on TV — but she hopes to keep her political activity strictly extracurricular.

The actress told The Washington Post that she has been approached by “top Democrats” with requests to run for office.

She’s also gotten some pleas from within her immediate family.

“My father keeps saying, ‘I want you to run for Senate.’” she told the New York Times. “But that’s just my dad.”

Her response to them all? “Not in a million years.”

Disinterest in running for office aside, Louis-Dreyfus hasn’t shied away from expressing her political beliefs. The actress targeted millennials with a video endorsement for Hillary Clinton last November and spoke out against the Trump Administration’s travel ban at the Screen Actors Guild Awards in January.

“I want you all to know that I am the daughter of an immigrant,” she told the room. “My father fled religious persecution in Nazi-occupied France, and I’m an American patriot, and I love this country. And because I love this country I am horrified by its blemishes.”
