Lena Dunham Posts Nude Picture Of Herself On Instagram To Celebrate Her Body

There’s an iconic line in the film “Mean Girls” where Amanda Seyfried’s character puts her hand to her breast and says “It’s like I have ESPN or something. My breasts can always tell when it’s going to rain.”

It’s said some women are visited with a similar sensation on days when Lena Dunham posts a nearly nude photograph of herself on Instagram. This might explain why some of us weren’t surprised when we woke up this morning to discover that Dunham had done just that last night.

Alongside the photograph, which features her private areas covered by an animated honey pot and two animated pears, respectively, she included a message.

“I spent so many years loving my body but thinking it wasn’t lovable by others – its sole purpose was to be fodder for jokes. I performed the insult so no one else could. I don’t regret any of it – that’s my art and that was my truth – but now, at age 31, having been through hell and back with my health and other people’s percetions of my physicality, I feel deeply comfortable with the idea that this pear-shaped pot of honey is equally good for making people laugh and laying out lie a Suicide Girl circa 2004. Love it all.”

Dunham has been dealing with a severe bout of endometriosis over the past year. She cancelled her Lenny tour, scheduled to take place in May, because of the disease.

In an ever-changing world that can sometimes feel like it’s moving too fast to keep up with, it’s nice to know that at least one thing will always stay the same: Lena Dunham’s love for posting graphic photos of herself on Instagram.
