The National Jewish Democratic Council is a Jewish political organization that calls itself “the national voice of Jewish Democrats.” The NJDC’s goals include strengthening Jewish support for Democratic candidates, educating Democratic politicians about Jewish policy priorities, building a just American society, and supporting Israel. The NJDC has worked to increase Jewish support for the current administration’s positions on women’s rights, energy, health care, and the separation of church and state. The NJDC advances its agenda through conferences, advertisements and media outreach.

David A. Harris served as president and CEO of the National Jewish Democratic Council from 2009 to 2013. He previously served as NJDC's deputy executive director for seven years. He entered politics in 1992 as a congressional campaign manager and went on to serve as a congressional fellow for the late Senator Paul Simon, executive director of the Israel on Campus Coalition, and director of governmental and public affairs for the American Jewish Congress. A native of West Lafayette, Ind., Harris studied at Washington University in St. Louis.
