Touro College is a Jewish-sponsored institution for higher and professional education. It includes several graduate schools in New York, Touro University in California, and an online course program. The institution was founded in 1970 by Bernard Lander. In 2011, Touro took over sponsorship for the New York Medical College in Valhalla, N.Y. 7,216 undergraduate students were enrolled during the 2012-13 academic year, along with 19,000 students worldwide.

Alan Kadish became Touro College’s second president after founder Bernard Lander passed away in February 2010. Previously, Kadish had served as senior provost and CEO of Touro, after a 19-year tenure at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine, where he specialized in cardiology. Kadish, who was born and raised in New York City, holds a bachelor’s from Columbia University and a doctor of medicine from Albert Einstein College of Medicine at Yeshiva University.
