Americans for Peace Now is the sister organization of Shalom Achshav, the prominent Israeli movement for a peaceful, two-state solution to the Israel-Palestinian conflict. Founded in 1981, three years after Shalom Achshav was established, APN describes itself as “pro-Israel” and “pro-peace.” It works to build support for the goals of Shalom Achshav in the United States, including the evacuation of settlements and the establishment of a Palestinian state alongside Israel. APN engages in advocacy and education about the conflict and regularly comments on Israeli-Palestinian issues.

Debra DeLee is the president and CEO of Americans for Peace Now. Her history in politics includes stints as executive director of the Democratic National Committee in 1993, and chair of the DNC from 1994-1995. She also served as CEO of the 1996 Democratic National Convention and was a “superdelegate” at the 2008 Convention. In addition to leading APN, DeLee serves on J Street’s advisory council.
