Lisa Lynch

Interim President

Founded in 1948, Brandeis University is a private research university with a liberal arts focus, located in Waltham, Mass. It is the only nonsectarian Jewish-sponsored college or university in the country; according to Hillel, 50% of the 3,588 undergraduate students are Jewish. Brandeis has four graduate schools, including the Brandeis International Business School.

Lisa Lynch is interim president of Brandeis University, as well as the Maurice B. Hexter Professor of Social and Economic Policy. According to Brandeis, “Lynch will serve as interim president while a search is conducted for the university’s next president. Lynch will return to the role of provost after a permanent president assumes office.” The Brandeis salary posted is for her predecessor, Frederick Lawrence. Prior to her current post she served as provost and senior vice president for academic affairs, and as dean of the Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis. She has published extensively on issues such as the impact of technological change and organizational innovation on productivity and wages, the determinants of youth unemployment and the school-to-work transition.
