Hazon seeks to build “healthier and more sustainable communities in the Jewish world and beyond.” Founded in 2000, Hazon has cultivated and helped fund the Jewish environmental movement in North America and Israel. Hazon organizes bike rides to raise awareness and money for Jewish environmental work, and runs a variety of food-related programs, including over 60 community-supported agriculture projects and the Hazon Food Conference. Hazon recently merged with the Isabella Freedman Retreat Center, and its affiliates include Adamah, the Jewish Greening Fellowship, and the Jewish Farm School.

Nigel Savage is the executive director and founder of Hazon. He previously worked in finance, as a professional fund manager at the City of London Investment Group, and in the movie industry, as executive producer of two British independent films. Savage also helped found Limmud NY and served as a board member of the Isabella Freedman Jewish Retreat Center for nine years. A native of Manchester, England, Savage has studied at the Pardes Institute and Hebrew University, and received a master’s degree in history from Georgetown University.
