0YouTube Refuses to Ban 'Innocence of Muslims' Film: White House Asks Google after Embassy Protest

Google has rejected a request by the White House to reconsider its decision to keep online a controversial YouTube film, the Innocence of Muslims, which has ignited anti-American protests across the globe. At least seven people have been killed so far in the protests, which have now spread around the world, with US embassies and western businesses attacked. And now it has emerged that White House officials approached Google, which owns YouTube, and asked them to reevaluate whether the video had violated YouTube’s terms of service (TOS). However, Google has said that the video was within its guidelines, and although access has been restricted in several countries where the situation is particularly sensitive, the clip remains viewable to most of the world.
