WATCH: How To Make Chicken Fricassee And Rice With Apples
This video by Yiddish Forverts editor-in-chief Rukhl Schaechter and Eve Jochnowitz originally appeared in the Yiddish Forverts.
I love to watch Rukhl Schaechter and Eve Jochnowitz create classic Jewish dishes, taking us through the recipes step by step in Yiddish (with English subtitles). The way they cook and the foods they prepare take me right back to my granmothers’ kitchens.
The recipe Schaechter prepares in the video below is a simple chicken fricassee served over egg noodles. Jochnowitz makes rice with apples and raisins, a recipe she found in Fania Lawando’s “Vilna Vegetarian Cookbook,” which Jochnowitz translated into English from the original Yiddish.
Why not welcome the new year with these delicious, comforting, and easy-to-make classics.
