Join us for an illuminating conversation about how the Forward and the rest of the Jewish news ecosystem is covering the Israel-Hamas war and its repercussions in the U.S., including rising antisemitism and clashes over free speech on college campuses. Both Ilene and Jodi have spent years living in and reporting from Israel, and will discuss the critical role Jewish journalism plays in this critical time.
Jodi Rudoren has been editor-in-chief of the Forward since 2019. She previously spent 21 years as a reporter, editor and digital innovator at The New York Times, including nearly four years as the Jerusalem bureau chief. Jodi is also a sought-after public speaker and commentator who has appeared on CNN, MSNBC, NPR and other news outlets. She has an essay in the 2023 anthology Jewish Priorities: Sixty-five proposals for the future of our people.
Ilene Prusher is an award-winning journalist, author and lecturer who joined the staff of Florida Atlantic University after nearly two decades abroad. She spent a decade at The Christian Science Monitor, serving as bureau chief in Jerusalem, Istanbul and Tokyo and covering the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan; she later was a beloved columnist for the Israeli newspaper Haaretz. In 2014, she published a novel, Baghdad Fixer, based partly on her experience as a war correspondent.
