Do I have to pay to read articles on Forward.com?
As a loyal print subscriber, you are entitled to full access to the Forward.com website, but you do need to log in. To log in, you must have a digital account and a password. If you began your subscription via our website, your digital account was created at that time and you simply need to log in. Keep reading for more information on how to create an account and log in.
I haven’t created a digital account yet. How do I do it?
Click on “Log in” at the top right of the Forward.com home page. At the bottom of the “Welcome Back” box you will see, “If you are a Forward subscriber and have never logged in, click here to create a digital account.” Click on “Click here.”
Enter your subscriber number, which is the 10-digit number on your mailing label, and the first 4 letters of your last name. Click “Log in.”
You will then be taken to another page where your email will already be entered; simply enter the password you would like to use.
Click on “Go to Forward.com” to return to the website. Check for your name at the top right corner of the website. If it is there, you have successfully logged in!
What if I can’t find my subscriber number? Your subscriber number is located on the mailing label of your magazine, just above your name. It is a 10-digit number between the # sign and the /. If you don’t have your magazine handy, or you are a digital-only reader, contact customer service to get your subscriber number. (See Contact info at the bottom of this page.)
I’ve logged out. How do I log back into my digital account?
Click on “Log in” at the top right of the home page. You will be asked to enter your email and password that you created. Once you have successfully logged in, your name will appear in the upper right hand corner of the website.
What do I do if I forget my password?
You can reset your forgotten password a couple of ways:
Click the “Log in” link at the top right corner of the Forward.com home page, then click “Forgot Your Password?” Enter the email address you used to create your account. You will receive a link in your email, which you should click on and follow the prompts to create a new password.
Hover over the yellow “Subscribe” button in the top right corner of the Forward.com home page. Click on “Check Your Account.” Using the second option, enter the email address you used to create your account in the designated space and click “Forgot Password.” You will receive a link in your email, which you should click on and follow the prompts to create a new password.
Can I get digital access on my smartphone or tablet? What devices are supported?
Our Forward.com website is mobile optimized and can be read easily from any web-enabled mobile device or smartphone. The tablet edition is also optimized for whatever device you read it on.
Can I access my Forward subscription on more than one computer, smartphone or tablet?
Yes. Once you have a Forward subscription, your email address will be your username and you will select a password. You can use your login from any computer or mobile device.
How do I manage my subscription account once I have subscribed to the Forward?
Under the yellow “Subscribe” button drop-down on the home page, click on “Check Your Account.”
Log in using your email address and password or the subscriber number from your mailing label.
An array of subscription services are available in your account section, including changing your password, renewing your subscription, and checking your subscription expiration date.
When I go on vacation, can I put my subscription on hold?
You may put your subscription on a temporary hold so that the magazine is not delivered when you are not there. Your subscription will then be extended by the amount of time your subscription is on hold. However, if you do this, your unlimited access to Forward.com will also be suspended. Another option is to simply cancel delivery of the print edition while you are out of town, but continue the digital parts of your subscription. Your subscription will be changed to “digital only” for the time you are away, and you can enjoy keeping up with all the news. You also retain access to the tablet edition during this time. If you choose this option, your subscription expire date will not change. To put your subscription on hold or switch to digital only, call Customer Service at (866) 523-9651.
What is the difference between Forward.com and the tablet edition of the Forward?
Forward.com provides you with unlimited access to stories, videos, photo galleries and more by our award-winning team of journalists — updated daily from the US, Israel, and the world — available on any computer or web-enabled device. The tablet edition is a page-by-page replica of the print magazine — including all stories, sections, photos and ads — that you can read on your tablet or computer. The tablet edition also translates into other languages, allows you to magnify for easier reading, and enables you to share articles with friends. As an extra perk, you get access to every issue all the way back to 2009.
How do I set up my tablet account?
Using your tablet, click here for the Forward. Add this link to your Favorites or bookmark the page for easy reference.
Next, click on “Sign in” in the top right corner of the page. Log in using your email address for the username and simply enter “password” (all lowercase). Once you are logged in, click on “Manage Account” in the top right corner. Click on “Account Info” and follow the prompts to change your password to something unique and secure.
You may also manage email notification preferences by clicking on the three bars at the top left of the page, then clicking on “Email Alerts.”
To see back issues, click on the calendar at the top center of the page. Issue dates appear in bold. You can read back issues from 2009 to the present.
Another feature of the tablet edition is the ability to search for keywords, articles, and authors. To search through past issues, click “Advanced Search” and change the date range.

Why did the Forward change from a newspaper to a magazine?
Because our audience asked for changes. You probably know that more people, including many Forward readers, are getting their news online. Because they spend so much time on our website, readers started asking about a new approach to the digital space — they wanted to see different stories online than they do in print. A magazine is the best way to deliver the award-winning, thorough, and thoughtful journalism you love from the Forward in a beautiful format that showcases our extensive, high-caliber storytelling. It also offers a different point of view — and a different experience — from what you get online.
