The festival is sponsored by and will take place at the Segal Centre for Performing Arts in Montreal from June 17 – 25, 2009. This historic event will also include lectures, films, a family day in the park with music and performance, nightly cabaret concerts and an academic symposium on Yiddish theater. Bryna Wasserman, the director of the Montreal Yiddish Theatre founded by and named after her mother, Dora Wasserman, thought there could be no better tribute for the 50th anniversary of the troupe than to invite all the other Yiddish theaters in the world to meet, gain support and strength from each other and discuss the next 50 years.
