The first steps have finally been taken!” a Forverts editorial reads. “Socialism has made its entrance into the U.S. Congress. Three representatives, three trustworthy, capable representatives from our party — Comrades Berger and Gaylord from Milwaukee, and Comrade Bachman from Columbus — were elected to the House of Representatives. The anti-Jewish riots took place on the fourth anniversary of the killings of two Polish students, at the time of another anti-Jewish outbreak during which Jews fought back. The two students, Waclawski and Gratkowski, have been turned into martyrs by the nationalist Polish student organization. After a prayer was recited in their memory, the Polish student group began launching attacks on Jewish students, injuring dozens.
