Barak: Decision on Iran Attack ‘Very Far Off’
Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak said the decision about whether Israel would attack Iran’s nuclear program remained “very far off.” Barak made this statement Wednesday in an interview with Israel’s Army Radio. He did not specify whether “very far off” meant weeks, months or longer.
The Defense Minister is scheduled to meet this week with Martin Dempsey, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the U.S. armed forces. Barak, asked if the U.S. wanted to be forewarned were Israel to attack Iran’s nuclear program, said only that a decision about such an attack was not imminent.
But he added, “I don’t think our ties with the United States are such that they have no idea what we are talking about,” he said.
