Condoleezza Rice Plays Down Veep Hopes
The political establishment in the United States has been abuzz over a recent report which appeared on the Drudge Report which claimed that former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, who served under George W. Bush, is one of the leading candidates being considered by Mitt Romney for the Republican vice presidential slot.
According to the report, Romney began shrinking the list of final candidates which was recently given to him, and intends on announcing his choice in the coming weeks. The Drudge Report reported that Rice was the top choice in the list.
Less than two months ago, on May 19, Rice arrived in Israel for a short visit in order to “open the doors” for Motorola CEO Greg Brown in his meeting with Benjamin Netanyahu and other Israeli officials.
Despite her visit lasting only a mere 36 hours, Rice managed to meet with several close Israeli friends. One of those friends, who asked to remain anonymous, told Haaretz that he asked Rice about the rumors surrounding her potential run for vice president in the November 2012 elections.
