Radio Reporter Donates Transcript of Nuremberg Nazi War Crimes Transcript to U.S. Holocaust Museum
A former reporter for the U.S. Army donated a transcript of radio coverage of the Nuremberg war crimes trials to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum.
Harold Burson, 92, who covered the trials of Nazi leaders in 1945 and 1946 for the American Forces Network, gave the never-published transcript to the Washington museum on Tuesday. The actual recordings of the broadcast have been lost.
Burson hand-delivered the 40 scripts to the museum after taking a train from New York to Washington, The Associated Press reported.
It is the first detailed transcript of coverage of the trials to become part of the museum collection, the museum’s director of curatorial affairs, Scott Miller, told AP. Burson gave an oral history of the trials of 22 Nazi leaders to the museum.
