Alan Grayson May Run for Florida Senate Seat

(JTA) — Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) not long ago withdrew her name from the list of those seeking the Senate seat Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) is vacating for his presidential run.
Wasserman Schultz, the chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee, and perhaps the party’s most important Jewish lawmaker, was clearing the way for a smooth run by Rep. Patrick Murphy (D-Fla.), the establishment favorite.
Rep. Alan Grayson (D-Fla.), who, like Wasserman Schultz is Jewish, and who unlike her, makes a point of distancing himself from the party establishment, is not so accommodating. The liberal firebrand is likely to compete with Murphy for the Democratic nod.
Politico reports that Grayson’s girlfriend, Dena Minning, may seek to replace him in the U.S. House of Representatives. Minning has an MD and a PhD (Grayson is a lawyer, so cue the lawyer brings Mama home a doctor jokes, and vice versa…).
Politico could not contact the couple because they are … traveling in Israel.
