Milo Yiannopoulos Launches ‘Privilege Grant’ for White Male College Students

Milo Yiannopoulos is starting a scholarship fund on behalf a group that he says is underrepresented in higher education: white males.
“The Yiannopoulos Privilege Grant is exclusively available to white men who wish to pursue their post-secondary education on equal footing with their female, queer and ethnic minority classmates,” the description on the site reads, claiming that it would distribute 10 grants of $2,500 to American university students fitting the criteria. The application period extends to February 14.
In 2015, more white males received bachelor’s degrees than any other group, at a rate of 36.3 percent, according to the National Center of Education Statistics. White women almost matched white men, at a rate of 36.1 percent. Only 21.1 percent of black males received bachelor’s degrees, and 14.3 percent of Hispanic males.
Yiannopoulos, a Breitbart tech editor with a history of inflammatory statements about women and minorities, draws on rhetoric about “men’s rights” and “reverse racism” in starting this initiative. He has risen to prominence on the heels of President Donald Trump’s victory and the ascent of the “alt-right,” the contemporary white nationalist movement.
The British-born outrage pundit has taken a keen interest in American university campuses, castigating them as cesspools of “political correctness” and visiting them on his self-proclaimed “Dangerous Faggot” tour. That has occasionally led to violent protests, including at U.C. Berkeley in February and at the University of Washington in January.
