Leaving Rag Trade Behind, Ivanka’s Doing D.C. Power Breakfasts
Ivanka Trump shook hands and exchanged pointed laughs with two prominent Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton policy advisers while breakfasting at the Four Seasons Hotel in Washington, D.C.
Trump was sitting down with Pepsi CEO Indra Nooyi and White House aide Dina Powell, when Powell spotted the Democrats – former National Security Council member Ben Rhodes, Clinton aide Jake Sullivan and ex-State Department official Thomas Nides — across the room and decided to make introductions.
Trump is said to have pressed the flesh with the men, with Nides remarking, “This is the resistance.” Ivanka’s response? “Good luck with that.”
Powell, Goldman Sachs’ onetime head of corporate philanthropy and former George W. Bush administration official, has a large D.C. Rolodex in D.C., and is said to be one of the most important figures in helping the Trumps gain entry to elite circles.
