Kushner Upsets Trump With Aspen Ski Trip During Obamacare Debacle
President Trump feels abandoned by his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, after the White House senior adviser dallied on an Aspen skiing trip while the administration’s health care plan circled the drain last week.
“He is upset that his son-in-law and senior adviser was not around during this crucial week,” an unidentified Republican source close to the president told CNN. The measure fell apart Friday, and Kushner was gone until Thursday, accompanying his wife, Ivanka Trump, along with her brother Eric Trump and her sister-in-law Lara Trump, to the famed Colorado slopes on a getaway.
It is not thought that Kushner, who now has a White House portfolio working on business issues, had any hand in the ill-fated effort to repeal and replace Obamacare, which fell apart due to divisions within the Republican Party about how carry this out. But his father-in-law still counts him as one of his most trusted advisers, and in the past has called him in to do crisis management, including during the campaign, when the candidate was caught on tape bragging about committing sexual assault.
