John Legend, Jackson Browne Join Jon Ossoff’s Money Machine

Democratic hopeful Jon Ossoff raised over $8 million in support of his campaign for Georgia’s 6th District ahead of the April special election, one that may be the most expensive House race in history. Ossoff’s high profile celebrity donors were well publicized (Samuel L. Jackson, Jane Fonda, and Chelsea Handler., to name a few), but it seems there were a few more that slipped through the cracks
Musician, actor, and all-around mensch John Legend contributed $2,700 to Ossoff’s campaign back in March under his birth name, John Stephens (which probably explains why it’s gone unnoticed thus far). The ten-time Grammy award winner recently made headlines after he donated enough funds to clean up Seattle’s school lunch debt.
In addition, Jackson Browne, who last released an album in 2014, made a $2,000 donation to Ossoff in February. Browne’s nearly 50-year career has been marked by his ongoing political activism.
Because Ossoff failed to capture the seat at the April special election, he’ll square off against Republican Karen Handel in the run-off on June 20.
