Steve Jobs’ Widow Buying The Atlantic Magazine

Laurene Powell Jobs, the widow of Apple founder Steve Jobs, will acquire majority ownership of the Alantic Media Company as David Bradley sells off most of his share in the venerable institution.
“Against the odds, The Atlantic is prospering,” wrote Bradley wrote in a memo on the sale. “While I will stay at the helm some years, the most consequential decision of my career now is behind me: Who next will take stewardship of this 160-year-old national treasure?”
He explained the reason for the sale as coming from a lack of desire from his children to run the magazine. The Atlantic was first published in Boston, with transcendentalist Ralph Waldo Emerson as one of the publication’s founding muses. Now operating in Washington, D.C., the Atlantic Media Company includes properties like Quartz and the National Journal.
Publishing a monthly print edition, the magazine is now led by Jeffrey Goldberg, the liberal Zionist journalist who has written widely on Israel and the Middle East.
