Ivanka Trump tweeted her support for the acceptance speech Oprah Winfrey gave during Sunday night’s Golden Globes — but received harsh criticism because Winfrey’s speech was seen as implicitly critical of the Trump administration.

Winfrey’s speech included impassioned remarks about the #MeToo movement. Ivanka Trump’s support for the speech was criticized because a dozen women have accused the president of sexual harassment and lewd behavior. “Ivanka Trump, stop the ‘you go, girl’ Oprah cheerleading, Ruth Marcus wrote in the Washington Post. “You’re complicit.”

With no paywall or subscriptions, the Forward is entirely supported by readers like you. Every dollar you give this Passover is invested in the future of the Forward — and telling the American Jewish story fully and fairly.
