Kushner Companies’ High Rent Helped Shutter Guy Fieri’s Times Square Restaurant

Guy Fieri’s Times Square restaurant struggled with the $1.8 million annual rent charged by Kushner companies, according to the Washington Post.The restaurant closed December 31 and the space remains vacant.
Kushner companies was formerly headed by Jared Kushner, before he resigned to join the Trump administration a year ago.
The Post reports that Fieri’s restaurant, Guy’s American Kitchen, brought in $17 million last year. But restaurant industry experts say that Guy’s American would need $30 million in annual revenue to afford the rent Kushner Companies charged.
Guy’s American is infamous for perhaps the most scathing New York Times restaurant review in recent memory, which asked if the entire restaurant is “a very expensive piece of conceptual art,” and if the baked alasaka is, “supposed to be a representation in sugar and eggs of the experience of going insane.”
