In the wake of fashion designer Kate Spade’s apparent suicide on Tuesday, Ivanka Trump tweeted advice to others who may be facing depression.
“Kate Spade’s tragic passing is a painful reminder that we never truly know another’s pain or the burden they carry,” the first daughter tweeted. “If you are struggling with depression and contemplating suicide, please, please seek help.”
Trump included a phone number for The Lifeline, a suicide prevention hotline.
Spade, 55, was reportedly found by a housekeeper after she hanged herself in her New York City apartment. She started Kate Spade New York in 1993 and sold the company to Neiman Marcus in two tranches in 1999 and 2006. The company, best known for its colorful handbags, was then sold to Coach for $2.4 billion in 2017.
