Border police officer lightly wounded in West Bank attack, Palestinian assailant shot dead
According to the Israel Police, a Palestinian shot at the soldiers, who returned fire and killed him

An Israeli Border Police officer was shot and lightly wounded during a shooting attack in the West Bank on Tuesday. The assailant was shot and killed, according to the Israeli military.
The shooting took place near Argaman junction in the Jordan Valley, roughly 34 miles (55 kilometers) northeast of Jerusalem.
According to Border Police, the Palestinian shot at the soldiers, who returned fire and struck the shooter. He was pronounced dead shortly after. According to the army, the force was searching for a man who shot at a nearby restaurant earlier on Tuesday, in what is estimated to be a criminally motivated attack. Army sources estimate that he is the man killed in the incident.
The wounded Border Police officer was taken to a nearby hospital.
Earlier on Monday Israeli military fire killed a Palestinian man in Nablus, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent.
The Palestinian Health Ministry says the man who was killed is 21-year-old Amir Bastami and that this marks the 48th Palestinian to be killed by Israeli forces this year.
According to the IDF, its security forces entered the city to arrest suspects involved in the killing of Sgt. Ido Baruch in October. Two of the suspects involved in the incident were arrested but injured in an exchange of fire with the soldiers, the IDF confirmed, and three other wanted persons were arrested.
