VIDEO: My escape from the Warsaw Ghetto

Henryk Robak, a native Yiddish speaker, remembers his time living in the Warsaw ghetto, and how he survived (includes English subtitles)

This year marks 80 years since the historic Warsaw Ghetto Uprising.

In this 3-minute clip, Holocaust survivor Henryk Robak recalls his time living in the Warsaw Ghetto, and how he escaped into Russia with other children. His parents and sister stayed in Warsaw and likely perished in Treblinka.

The video, which is in Yiddish, has English subtitles. It’s one of over a thousand in-depth video interviews about the Yiddish language and culture, produced by the Yiddish Book Center’s Wexler Oral History Project.
