Here’s the wedding announcement from his office:

On Friday, August 18, 2006, Congressman Steven Richard Rothman was married to Jennifer Anne Beckenstein, in an afternoon ceremony performed by Rabbi Elyse D. Frishman. Attending the service was a small gathering of family and friends including Congressman Rothman’s two teenage children, John and Karen Rothman, and Ms. Beckenstein’s three teenage daughters, Claire, Alexandra, and Isabel Beckenstein. The wedding ceremony took place at the Nyack Seaport, Nyack, New York.

Ms. Beckenstein, 48, is the daughter of Nancy Curran and the late William F. Johnson. Jennifer’s mother worked at home during the marriage. Jennifer’s late father was a scout for the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team. Jennifer’s stepfather, Thomas Curran, is now retired, having spent his professional career as a national marketer of high technology equipment.

Ms. Beckenstein was born and raised in Portland, Oregon and received her Bachelor of Science Degree at Portland State University. She worked as a desk assistant at ABC News in New York City and also in the publicity department at WABC television in New York City for three years and later stayed at home with her children full time. As her children got older, Ms. Beckenstein re-entered the workforce and took a position as the Community Affairs Coordinator at the Center for Food Action, an emergency food, rent and utility agency located in Englewood, New Jersey.

Congressman Rothman, 53, is the son of Muriel and Philip Rothman of Fort Lee, New Jersey and Boca Raton, Florida. His mother worked at home during their marriage. Congressman Rothman’s father began his career as a tool and die maker, later building his own home and becoming a residential and industrial builder. He is now retired.

Congressman Rothman was born in Englewood, New Jersey and was raised in Englewood and Tenafly, New Jersey. He attended Syracuse University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Philosophy and then went on to attend Washington University School of Law in St. Louis, Missouri where he received his Juris Doctor Degree.

Congressman Rothman was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in November, 1996 and is presently completing his fifth term in Congress. He is a member of the House Appropriations Committee. Prior to that, Congressman Rothman served for six years as the Mayor of Englewood, New Jersey from 1983 – 1989, and he served as the Bergen County Surrogate Court Judge from 1993 to 1996. For sixteen years during that time, Congressman Rothman was engaged in the private practice of law.

The couple will reside with their five teenage children and two dogs in Fair Lawn, New Jersey.
