Rabbis 2014

Rabbi David Segal

David and his wife, Cantor Rollin Simmons, came to Aspen just three years ago and have transformed a struggling and largely dormant small congregation into a major force promoting Jewish life and involvement in the Roaring Fork Valley. He has proven an inspiration to young families in the region, as well as to the older Jews who live or spend part of the year in Aspen — not an easy task. David has organized hikes, bike rides and mountain top services at Maroon Bells, which drew close to 200 worshippers on the second day of Rosh Hashanah, to attract Jews in the area. He has turned Shabbat services into a standing room only weekly event.
