Report: DSK Accuser Offers To Drop Charges if Settlement Reached

The lawyer for the hotel maid suing Dominique Strauss-Kahn reportedly told the ex-IMF chief’s lawyers that he would work to get criminal charges if they reach a settlement of the civil suit against him.

People briefed on the matter told the Wall Street Journal that Kenneth Thompson, the lawyer for Sofitel hotel maid Nafissatou Diallo, started the talks with Strauss-Kahn’s lawyers.

Prosecutors say Diallo’s lack of credibility has caused serious weakness in their sexual assault case against Strauss-Kahn, who is accused of forcing himself on the maid in his suite in May.

Thompson and Diallo have called on prosecutors to pursue the criminal case against Strauss-Kahn, once seen as a French presidential front-runner. The next court hearing in the case is set for Tuesday.
