Oliver Stone’s Son: Dad Welcomes Islam Conversion
The filmmaker son of director Oliver Stone says he is facing “the reverse of anti-Semitism,” after converting to Islam in Iran last week.
Sean Stone — since his conversion, he goes by the name Sean Christopher Ali Stone — told The New York Post’s Page Six: “I’ve already experienced the reverse of anti-Semitism, having people within the film industry express a reluctance to work with me now that I have said a simple prayer, ‘There is no God but God, and Mohammed is his messenger.’ I am sure I have [bleeped] off some powerful people.”
The younger Stone, whose father is Jewish and whose mother is Christian, says he now considers himself a “Jewish Christian Muslim,” because he believes in the teachings of the Hebrew Bible, the New Testament and, as of recently, the Koran.
He is about to release a horror film, “Graystone,” and was in Iran researching another film at the time of his conversion.
Stone said famous dad has been most accepting of his embrace of Islam, telling the Post: “My dad said, ‘Allah be with you.’ My father understands that I am trying to bridge certain gaps and bring about peace.”
