Hadassah Hospital Unveils 19-Story Tower
A state-of-the-art, 19-floor tower was dedicated at Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem.
The Sarah Wetsman Davidson Hospital Tower, named for the mother of the late Detroit Pistons’ owner Bill Davidson, was dedicated Tuesday night as part of the events surrounding Hadassah’s convention in Israel marking 100 years since its founding.
Davidson and his wife, Karen, and his company, Guardian Industry Corp., donated $75 million in 2007 toward the construction. The entire project is expected to cost some $360 million and will be completed in 2014.
The new tower can hold 500 beds, and has 20 operating rooms, 60 intensive care units and a state-of-the-art heart institute. Five of the stories are below ground and can be used in case of war.
