Slain Jewish Couple Recalled at Toronto Funeral
A beloved Jewish couple murdered in their South Florida home was remembered at a Toronto funeral filled with grief and unanswered questions.
Mourners packed a service for retirees David “Donny” Pichosky, 71, and Rochelle Wise, 66, who were found dead in their townhouse in Hallandale, near Ft. Lauderdale, late last week.
“We come here together today to mourn the death of two beautiful people,” said Rabbi Chaim Strauchler, the Toronto Star reported. “We are beset by tragedy and overwhelmed with questions.”
Jamie Wise said his mother’s death had left him “frozen, angry, shocked and broken.”
“These questions won’t stop and shouldn’t stop,” he said, according to the paper.
Police say the couple were found dead late Wednesday. They haven’t identified a cause of death or motive.
Police did say that the slayings were being probed as a double murder, not a murder suicide.
Wise was a former director of Crestwood Valley Day Camp and vice-principal of the preschool division at Bialik Hebrew Day School.
