‘Boycott Israel’ Stickers Hit Shelves of Irish Supermarket Giant Tesco

The Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement placed yellow stickers on items produced in Israel in a popular supermarket chain in Ireland.

The BDS boycott stickers on products in Tesco stores reads “For Justice in Palestine Boycott Israel,” Ynet reported. On some of the products, the stickers are placed alongside official stickers that read “Produce of West Bank (Israeli Settlement Produce).”

The yellow stickers also were found on products that originate from Israel within the 1967 borders, according to Ynet.

Tesco is a British chain established by a Jewish businessman, Jack Cohen, with hundreds of outlets in Ireland. Ynet reported that many of Cohen’s progeny, including many great-grandchildren, live in Israel.

Israel’s Foreign Ministry told Ynet that it is no mistake that the movement chose yellow as the color for its stickers, since it is reminiscent of the yellow stars that the Nazis made Jews wear during the time of the Holocaust.
