U.S. Ambassador for Women’s Issues to Meet With Israeli and Palestinian Women
The U.S. ambassador for women’s issues is traveling to the Middle East in part to discuss the role of women in the Israeli-Palestinian peace process.
Catherine Russell, the ambassador-at-large for global women’s issues, will visit Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Nazareth and Ramallah from March 22 to 25 “to meet with a range of Israeli and Palestinian women to discuss the important stake women have in the peace process and their role in advancing support for a negotiated peace,” a State Department statement said Wednesday.
Russell on the trip also will discuss how the crisis in Syria is affecting women. She will meet with officials in Abu Dhabi and Dubai to discuss the status of women in those countries.
