Melbourne Jewish Community Warned of Attack Risk
The Jewish community in Melbourne, Australia, is at a heightened risk of attack, a Jewish communal security agency said.
The Melbourne Community Security Group and Jewish Community Council of Victoria issued a joint statement Wednesday saying that they were stepping up security and encouraging the entire community to be vigilant, the Australian Jewish News reported.
The agencies said they are responding to new intelligence indicating that a “radicalised person” may be planning a terrorist attack on the local Jewish community.
“No particular facility or organisation has been identified and no particular timeframe has been specified,” the CSG said in a letter circulated to major community organizations.
The CSG and Jewish Community Council said they have also alerted local police and other Australian security agencies.
