Palestinians File ICC Report Over Firebombing That Killed Baby

The Palestinian Authority filed a report with the International Criminal Court over the firebomb attack on a Palestinian home that killed a baby boy.

P.A. Foreign Minister Riad Malki traveled to The Hague to deliver the report, which deals with the incident in the West Bank village of Duma and also discusses the rise in violence by Jewish settlers against Palestinians, Haaretz reported.

Malki also met with ICC Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda over the report.

A report on the attack and other settler violence also has been filed with the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland. The Palestinian Authority, supported by Jordan, also plans to file a complaint with the U.N. Security Council.

The reports on settler violence are supported by research by human rights organizations.

Israeli officials have condemned the report and authorized stronger measures to capture those responsible and hold them in custody.

On Monday, the Shin Bet security service arrested a far-right activist believed to be the catalyst behind many Jewish extremist attacks. Meir Ettinger, a grandson of the slain militant leader Meir Kahane, could be held without charges under administrative detention, a move approved by Israel’s security Cabinet on Sunday.

Also Monday, a firebomb attack on an Israeli car driving near Jerusalem left two people wounded, according to the Israel Defense Forces.
