Florida Rep. Ted Deutch Named to D.C. Holocaust Museum Council

Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has named Rep. Ted Deutch, a fellow Democrat from Florida, to the governing council of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum.

“The mission of the museum has been your personal and official mission,” Pelosi, the minority leader in the U.S. House of Representatives, wrote in a Dec. 4 letter, which Deutch posted on his Facebook page on Dec. 10.

Deutch, who is a Jewish, has become a leader in advancing legislation that would facilitate compensation claims for survivors.

“South Florida is home to one of the largest communities of Holocaust survivors in the country, and I have learned so much by listening to their stories of courage and perseverance in the face of unimaginable cruelty and hatred,” he said on his Facebook page.

“It is a privilege to fight for them in Congress, and I look forward to advancing the US Holocaust Museum’s efforts to educate the world about the Holocaust and stand up against all forms of hatred and intolerance.”

Holocaust museum terms are five years. The president and the leaders in Congress name officials to its bipartisan board.
