Poland Would Make It Crime To Use Term ‘Polish Death Camps’

Poland’s Justice Ministry is working on a bill that will press charges for the use of the term “Polish death camps.”

Minister of Justice Zbigniew Ziobro said in interviews over the weekend that details of the proposed new law will be presented this week.

Ziobro on Saturday discussed the new bill project on RMF radio. “I think it will be a project that meets the expectations of many Poles, who are routinely blasphemed in the world, in Europe, even in Germany, saying that they are the perpetrators of the Holocaust and that in Poland were Polish concentration camps, Polish gas chambers. Enough with this lie, there must be accountability,” Ziobro said.

The project was approved by the minister of Justice and presented to Prime Minister Beata Szydło, who reportedly “reacted positively to it.”

International media outlets frequently use the term “Polish death camp,” or “Polish concentration camp” to describe German Nazi concentration and death camps located on Polish soil.
