Hackers Dig Up a Jewish Gem in Trump’s DNC ‘Oppo’ File
A racist and anti-Semitic Trump quote from 1991 has resurfaced among the hacked Democratic National Committee documents revealed June 15.
That day, a hacker who identifies as Guccifer 2.0 shared documents stolen from the Democratic National Committee with The Smoking Gun. A 200-page opposition report on Donald Trump, which contains compilations of his quotes on different minority groups in the US, is one of the documents that were shared with the site.
The quote, which is at once disparaging to both African Americans and Jews, comes from a 1991 book in which one of Trump’s former colleagues remembers him saying: “Black guys counting my money! I hate it. The only kind of people I want counting my money are little short guys that wear yarmulkes every day” and links to a July Gawker article that published it.
When Playboy magazine asked Trump whether what was written in the book was accurate in 1999, Trump replied that it was “probably true.”
