120 Years of The Jewish Daily Forward: Now On Pinterest
This year, The Jewish Daily Forward is celebrating our fulfillment of the Jewish blessing — “ad meah v’esrim!” — and marking our 120th year as the leading Jewish publication in the world.
To celebrate, we invite you to to view, interact with, and comment on our new Pinterest board, 120 Years of the Forward. Pinterest provides a forum for people to interact with the Forward’s content in a new way. Each picture is paired with a related article from the Forward to allow for a deeper understanding of the when and where the photo was taken, and users can “pin” articles or photos they love for their friends to enjoy.
Here, you will find all of the photos from our book A Living Lens: Photographs of Jewish Life From the Pages of the Forward.
This Pinterest board is designed to give our community a way to connect to their heritage and celebrate our rich and vibrant Jewish culture. The 120 years of photographic history that has been saved and digitized is both broad and fascinating: in these photos, you will discover images from the beginnings of the state of Israel, mass protests, a letter that Czar Nicholas II of Russia wrote to The Forverts asking for advice, a photo of Chasidic leaders meeting with President Reagan, Woody Allen throwing some serious side eye, and much more.

A message from our Publisher & CEO Rachel Fishman Feddersen
I hope you appreciated this article. Before you go, I’d like to ask you to please support the Forward’s award-winning, nonprofit journalism during this critical time.
We’ve set a goal to raise $260,000 by December 31. That’s an ambitious goal, but one that will give us the resources we need to invest in the high quality news, opinion, analysis and cultural coverage that isn’t available anywhere else.
If you feel inspired to make an impact, now is the time to give something back. Join us as a member at your most generous level.
