Brooklyn Police Hunt Anti-Semitic Vandals
New York police are reportedly hunting for anti-Semitic vandals who spray-painted swastikas and hateful messages in a Brooklyn neighborhood over the weekend.
The Daily News reported several swastikas and the words, “Die Jews,” were painted on the garage of a home on E. 5th St. in Midwood, which has a large Jewish community.
“We are very afraid,” said the home’s shaken owner, Sharon Miltz, 56, told the paper. “We don’t know why this is happening.”
Two more swastikas were painted on a door of an apartment building across the street, the paper reported.
“This is just the latest in a series of ongoing anti-Semitic occurrences in Brooklyn and throughout New York City,” Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Boro Park) said in a statement. “People are justifiably very concerned and upset.”
The attack took place not far from the spot where several cars were vandalized with anti-Semitic graffiti in November. Police recently said that incident is being investigated as an insurance scam, not a hate crime.
