Former Anti-Defamation League leader Abraham Foxman is viewed by many as a Jewish leader with a unique common man’s touch. But that has not hindered his twice-yearly visits, over two decades, to the exclusive Golden Door, a secluded spa on 600 acres of hills, meadows and gardens 35 miles north of San Diego, from where he spoke to the Forward by phone.
According to Megyn Kelly, the network had to explain to Michael Cohen that Donald Trump would look bad if she got murdered following the candidate’s high profile spat with her.
After Jesse Watters’s triumphant trip to New York’s Chinatown, he headed south to Boro Park. Having spent time with people vaguely represented in the foreign policy discussion of the Vice Presidential candidates, he wanted to meet the Jews who have been the subjects of so many tweets by Donald Trump’s supporters. John Kerry’s made a ‘helluva’ mistake when he mocked Israel’s efforts to prevent civilian casualties in Gaza. Philologos writes that his language may be more ambiguous than you think.
President Obama was in rare form at the annual White House Correspondents Dinner on Saturday, delivering zingers at House Republican leaders, Fox News, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and his own Obamacare troubles. This is the second visit by Beck since the end of his inflammatory run as a host at Fox News, and the first since July, when he was warmly greeted by right-wing members of the Knesset.
If you haven’t seen Jon Stewart’s hilarious Wednesday night report on the aftermath of the Norway massacre, you’re only hurting yourself. He brilliantly skewers the protests of Fox News and the right over the bigotry of the media’s identifying the accused shooter as a “Christian extremist.” There are numerous layers of hypocrisy to peel away, and each one is funnier than the last: It’s bigoted to call Breivik a Christian just because he calls himself one, but the Fort Hood shooter is definitely a Muslim terrorist because he called himself one. Christians in this country are the victims of relentless bigotry by the left, but anyone else who complains of bigotry is playing the victim card. Et cetera and so forth.
