Brighton Beach Nursing Home Reopens Its Doors Six Months After Sandy

Six Months Later: The nursing home is back on its feet thanks to $20 million of construction.
Six months after Hurricane Sandy, one Brighton Beach nursing home is finally welcoming back its residents.

After Hurricane Sandy the home was flooded and heavily damaged.
The Shore View Nursing Home, which has served as a rehabilitation home for seniors for 44 years, reopened its facility on Thursday. More than 180 residents had been placed in a variety of care facilities throughout New York City, Westchester and Long Island after the storm.
The home was not only renovated, but also took preventative measures to protect the structure from future storms.
State Senator Martin Golden and other officials were on hand to greet residents as they came back home.
