Syria’s State News Agency Launches Hebrew-Language Website
Syria’s official news agency, SANA, has launched a Hebrew-language website to reach Israeli readers.
The website went live Sunday and joins existing pages in Arabic, French, Russian, Turkish, Chinese and Spanish.
Khalid al-Hamad, the editor and translator of the Hebrew page, said in a statement that the new website will expose Israel’s involvement in the Syrian civil war since it began in 2011, Haaretz reported.
Hamad also said it was necessary to address Israel, which occupies territory including the Golan Heights, “in its own language, which can far better serve the Resistance and its project against the occupation.”
Israel captured a large portion of the Golan in 1967 and later annexed the territory. As a result, the two countries are still technically at war.
Along with the new Hebrew site, SANA also launched a version of its website in Persian to reach Iranian readers.
