Arab-Israeli Man Charged With Fighting With Islamic State
An Arab-Israeli man was arrested and charged with fighting with the Islamic State.
Maharan Yussuf Khaladi of Nazareth was charged Sunday in Nazareth District Court with joining ISIS and fighting with the terror group in Iraq and Syria, the Shin Bet security service announced.
The charges include membership and activity in an illegal association, contacting a foreign agent, military training, travel abroad illegally and the prohibition of terrorist property transaction.
Khaladi, born in 1995, confessed to fighting for ISIS, the Shin Bet said.
He was arrested three weeks ago at Ben Gurion International Airport upon returning from Turkey, where he had traveled from Iraq.
According to the Shin Bet, Khaladi fought in five battles in Fallujah in Iraq and then was seriously wounded. He was treated in an ISIS hospital in Fallujah and then sent to Syria, where he was able to see his family.
