Ivanka Tweets About Fair Wages For Women on Equal Pay Day

Ivanka Trump on Tuesday showed her support for Equal Pay Day, tweeting out a message about closing the pay gap between men and women – a key part of her agenda in her father’s White House.

Trump, a special assistant to the president, included with the tweet an article from USA Today highlighting how women of color lag further behind their white female counterparts in pay equity. According to the piece, current statistics have the pay gap disappearing for women of all races some time in the 23rd century – probably not the timeline that Trump envisions.

In contrast to her father’s concentration on issues like trade and the military, Trump has sought to bring a focus on women and family issues to the administration. This dates to last summer’s Republican National Convention, when she gave a speech about ensuring paid family leave and equal pay. Trump and husband Jared Kushner are seen by many as those most friendly to liberal causes within the White House.
