Billionaire Sheldon Adelson has joined the fight against a wind and solar power mandate in Nevada, according to Bloomberg.

Adelson’s Las Vegas Sands Corp. joined the Nevada Resorts Association, with comprises most of the casino industry in the state, in opposing a bill that would require 40 percent of the state’s electricity to come from clean energy sources by 2030, a jump from the current target of 25 percent by 2025.

Sands and the Nevada Resorts Association, who say they support clean energy, are asking the state to hold off until after a November ballot measure. That plan would give energy customers a chance to choose their provider, with those focused on clean energy among them.

The resort association also said it also feared the mandate’s impact on energy prices.

Proponents of the mandate are still optimistic. “We have one of the best solar environments in the world and the cost of wind is at an all-time low,” said Nevada Assemblyman Chris Brooks, the sponsor of the bill.
