CBS Fires Exec For Saying Las Vegas Shooting Victims Don’t Deserve Sympathy

A top lawyer at CBS has been fired after she wrote on Facebook that she is “not even sympathetic” to victims of the Las Vegas mass shooting.
“If they wouldn’t do anything when children were murdered I have no hope that Repugs will ever do the right thing,” CBS vice president and senior counsel Hayley Geftman-Gold wrote about the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history, which took place at a country music festival. “I’m actually not even sympathetic bc country music fans often are Republican gun toters.”
“This individual, who was with us for approximately one year, violated the standards of our company and is no longer an employee of CBS. Her views as expressed on social media are deeply unacceptable to all of us at CBS. Our hearts go out to the victims in Las Vegas and their families,” a CBS representative said in a statement.
At least 58 people died in the shooting with more than 500 injured.
Geftman-Gold, 41, graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and Columbia University Law School.
